Apple Bars


Description

Delightful apple bars bursting with cinnamon and sweet apple flavor, perfect for sharing or enjoying with a warm drink.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the lemon juice.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the diced apples and rolled oats gently to keep the batter light.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  7. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

Best served warm with butter or ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or up to a week in the refrigerator.
