Asparagus Ham and Swiss Danish Braid


Description

A delightful blend of tender asparagus, savory ham, and melted Swiss cheese enveloped in buttery puff pastry, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 cup cooked asparagus, chopped
  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  3. In a bowl, combine the asparagus, ham, Swiss cheese, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer the filling mixture in the center of the pastry, leaving enough space on the sides to fold over.
  5. Cut slits along the sides of the pastry to create a braid effect.
  6. Fold the pastry over the filling, alternating sides to create a braid.
  7. Brush the top with the beaten egg for a glossy finish.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For an extra flaky crust, chill the pastry in the fridge for 10 minutes before baking. This Danish braid can also be served with a side salad or your choice of condiments.
