Baked Apple Crumble


Description

A comforting baked apple crumble with tender apple slices topped with a crunchy oat-studded crumble.


Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped dried cranberries or raisins
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them into even pieces. Toss with lemon juice and cinnamon.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and melted butter; mix until crumbly.
  4. Spread the apple slices in a greased baking dish, then top with the crumble mixture.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
  6. Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, replace butter with coconut oil. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free flour and oats. Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or Greek yogurt.
