A comforting baked apple crumble with tender apple slices topped with a crunchy oat-studded crumble.

- 4 to 5 apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped dried cranberries or raisins
- Optional: 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them into even pieces. Toss with lemon juice and cinnamon.
- In a medium bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and melted butter; mix until crumbly.
- Spread the apple slices in a greased baking dish, then top with the crumble mixture.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
- Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a vegan version, replace butter with coconut oil. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free flour and oats. Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or Greek yogurt.
