Blue Ribbon Chicken

Description

A delightful recipe that combines crispy chicken with savory ham and creamy Swiss cheese, perfect for a warm family gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or olive oil)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound until thin with a meat mallet.
  3. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.
  4. Lay a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each chicken breast, then roll them up tightly, securing with toothpicks.
  5. Set up a breading station: one plate with flour, one bowl with the beaten eggs mixed with milk, and one plate with breadcrumbs.
  6. Dredge each chicken roll in flour, dip in the egg mixture, and coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
  7. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the chicken rolls on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  8. Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish and bake for 20-30 minutes until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  9. Carefully remove the toothpicks, slice, and serve.

Notes

For a leaner option, use turkey ham. Substitute cheddar cheese for a bolder flavor or almond flour for a gluten-free version.
