  • 300g ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 400g canned tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  5. Combine the cooked penne pasta with the sauce in the skillet, mixing well to ensure that each piece of pasta is coated evenly.
  6. Serve hot, topped generously with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with lentils or plant-based ground meat. Serve with garlic bread or a fresh garden salad.
