  • 2 cups prepared chocolate pudding (instant or homemade)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream (or store-bought whipped topping)
  • 23 tablespoons powdered sugar (if whipping cream yourself)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for whipped cream)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate shavings or chocolate chips (for garnish)
  • Optional add-ins: 1/2 cup chopped toasted nuts (pecans or walnuts), 1 cup fresh berries (raspberries or strawberries), 2 tablespoons Kahlúa or espresso (for adult version)

Instructions

  1. Prepare brownies according to your chosen recipe or package instructions. Allow to cool completely, then cut into 1-inch bite-sized pieces.
  2. Prepare the chocolate pudding according to package or recipe and chill until slightly thickened.
  3. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  4. In a trifle bowl or individual serving glasses, start with a layer of brownie cubes to form a base.
  5. Spoon or pipe a layer of chocolate pudding over the brownie pieces.
  6. Add a layer of whipped cream on top of the pudding. Repeat layers until the dish is filled.
  7. Finish with a generous layer of whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or chips.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

For lighter options, use low-fat pudding and whipped topping or substitute whipped cream with sweetened Greek yogurt. Ensure brownies are fully cooled before layering to avoid sogginess.
