  • 6.5 oz (184 g) soft herbed cheese (Alouette with herbs, Boursin, or similar)
  • 1/2 cup (8090 g) ripe tomatoes, finely chopped (Roma or vine-ripe recommended)
  • 1/4 cup (68 g) fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Crackers, pita chips, or thinly sliced baguette, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the plate or platter: choose a shallow, wide dish or small platter so guests can dip easily. Wipe any crumbs away.
  2. Spread the cheese: using a spatula or the back of a spoon, spread the soft herbed cheese evenly in the center of the plate, creating a roughly circular mound.
  3. Add the tomatoes: evenly sprinkle the chopped tomatoes across the top of the cheese. Press gently so some tomato juices mingle with the cheese.
  4. Add basil: scatter the chopped fresh basil over the tomatoes for an aromatic finish.
  5. Season: finish with a few grinds of fresh black pepper. If desired, add a tiny pinch of salt.
  6. Drizzle the glaze: lightly drizzle the balsamic glaze back and forth across the whole plate.
  7. Serve immediately: present with pita chips, crackers, or thin baguette slices.

Notes

If prepping ahead, assemble up to 1 hour before serving and keep refrigerated; bring to room temperature for optimal creaminess.
