Description
A comforting dish of tender tortellini enveloped in a rich and velvety marinara sauce, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (9-12 oz) cheese tortellini
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the tortellini: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the tortellini and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté garlic: In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute or until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Combine sauce and cream: Stir in the marinara sauce and heavy cream, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow it to heat through for 2-3 minutes.
- Add tortellini: Carefully add the cooked tortellini to the sauce, stirring to combine and ensure that the pasta is well-coated.
- Incorporate cheese: Sprinkle in the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing gently until melted and fully incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Serve warm, garnished with fresh basil for an aromatic finish.
Notes
For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat. Substitute fresh basil with dried Italian herbs if not available.
