Cheesy Potato Casserole

Description

A heartwarming Cheesy Potato Casserole that brings comfort and indulgence with its rich flavors and creamy texture, perfect for family gatherings or cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups diced potatoes (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced potatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream, milk, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix until the potatoes are thoroughly coated and all ingredients are well distributed.
  4. Transfer the potato mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  5. If desired, sprinkle crushed cornflakes on top for a crunchy addition.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork and the top is a lovely golden brown.
  7. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving to let the cheese set slightly.

Notes

Avoid overmixing to keep the potatoes tender. Test several potato pieces to ensure they are soft and thoroughly cooked.
