Chinese Beef & Onion Stir Fry with Chili Crisp & Garlic Sauce

A savory and vibrant stir fry featuring juicy beef, caramelized onions, and a bold chili crisp sauce, perfect for a quick weeknight meal or casual dinner gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 large yellow onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili crisp oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the neutral oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced flank steak or sirloin and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  3. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
  4. In the same pan, add the sliced onions and cook until transparent, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the minced garlic and stir until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  6. Return the beef to the pan and mix well.
  7. Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and chili crisp oil; stir to combine.
  8. Mix the cornstarch with water and add to the beef mixture to thicken the sauce.
  9. Drizzle sesame oil over the stir fry.
  10. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until everything is well coated and heated through.
  11. Serve hot with rice or noodles.

Serve quickly for the best texture; the beef and onions are sweetest right out of the pan!
