  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Buttercream frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • Chocolate ganache (store-bought or homemade)
  • Optional: Chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • Optional: Alternative flours (for gluten-free option, use almond or coconut flour)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Gradually stir in boiling water.
  4. Pour the batter evenly into prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on wire racks.
  7. Layer the cakes with buttercream frosting and top with chocolate ganache.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder for better flavor. Don’t overmix to ensure a tender cake.
