- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until well combined.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan.
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake batter.
- Pour the remaining cake batter over the top, ensuring everything is well covered.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
For best results, don’t overmix the batter and test for doneness a few minutes early.
