Description

A nostalgic chocolate cake featuring a creamy surprise center, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until well combined.
  3. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan.
  4. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake batter.
  6. Pour the remaining cake batter over the top, ensuring everything is well covered.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

For best results, don’t overmix the batter and test for doneness a few minutes early.
