Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for the glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a doughnut pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until thoroughly mixed.
  4. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until combined; be careful not to overmix to maintain a light texture.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a doughnut comes out clean.
  7. Allow the doughnuts to cool slightly in the pan before transferring them to a wire rack.
  8. To make the chocolate glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and 2 tablespoons of milk in a bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary.
  9. Dip the cooled doughnuts into the glaze, letting the excess drip off, and place them back on the wire rack.
  10. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve fresh with a cup of coffee. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
