Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until well blended.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  6. If using, sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until firm.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into bars and serving.
