- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk (or dairy-free substitute)
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 orange (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2–3 tbsp fresh orange juice (or milk, for glaze)
- Fresh orange slices or berries (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Incorporate vanilla extract and orange zest if using.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While cooling, whisk powdered sugar with fresh orange juice for the glaze.
- Once cool, drizzle the glaze over the cake and garnish with fresh orange slices or berries.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
For a vegan option, use plant-based butter and flaxseed eggs. For a gluten-free version, substitute with almond flour.
