Description

Tender meatballs slow-simmered in a smoky-sweet barbecue sauce, perfect for parties or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey (93/7)
  • 1 large egg (lightly whisked)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup minced shallot
  • 1/3 cup gluten free breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1.5 cups gluten free BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, egg, olive oil, dijon mustard, shallot, breadcrumbs, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into 1-tablespoon-size meatballs and place them on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes until cooked through. Use a thermometer to check for 160°F.
  5. Transfer the meatballs to a crockpot and pour BBQ sauce over them, tossing to coat. Secure the lid.
  6. Cook on Low for 2–3 hours or on High for 1 hour, until glossy and tender.
  7. Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce for dipping.

Notes

These meatballs can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator or frozen for quick meals.
