- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cups frozen peas
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground lamb or beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the diced carrots, frozen peas, tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture is heated through.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes on top, smoothing it out with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken. For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth and replace meat with lentils or mushrooms.
