Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Once risen, roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into rounds. Let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  5. In a deep pan, heat oil over medium heat. Fry the donuts until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  6. For the filling, heat the heavy cream until just boiling and pour it over the chopped chocolate. Stir until melted and smooth. Chill in the refrigerator until thickened.
  7. Once cooled, fill each donut with the chocolate ganache using a piping bag.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
