French Onion Beef Roll


Description

A cozy culinary delight that blends the rich flavors of French onion soup with ground beef, all rolled up in a tender log and baked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup French onion soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or Gruyere)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and sauté until caramelized, about 10-12 minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. On a large sheet of parchment paper, spread the beef mixture into a rectangle, about 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Layer the caramelized onions and shredded cheese evenly over the beef.
  6. Using the parchment paper, roll the beef mixture into a log shape, sealing in the filling.
  7. Transfer the roll to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  9. During the last 10 minutes of baking, brush the top of the roll with additional French onion soup.
  10. Let cool slightly before slicing into pinwheels and serve warm.

Notes

Use sweet onions for a more delicate flavor or experiment with different cheeses for variety.
