Description
Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, these Fried Mac and Cheese Bites make the perfect comfort food for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked macaroni
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until thoroughly mixed.
- Using your hands, scoop out a portion of the mixture and form it into small bites or balls (about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter).
- Dip each macaroni ball into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s well-coated, then roll it in the breadcrumbs until fully covered.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot over medium heat.
- In batches, fry the bites until they are golden brown and crispy, approximately 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the bites using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauces—barbecue or ranch sauce work incredibly well!
Notes
Avoid overmixing the ingredients to prevent a gummy texture. Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying for that perfect crunch.
