Description
A comforting dish featuring fluffy rice coated in delicious garlic and butter, perfect for family gatherings or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 cups dry long grain white rice or jasmine rice, rinsed and drained
- 2.5 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 0.25 cup finely chopped yellow onion
- 1.5 tablespoons minced garlic
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 1 tablespoon pieces
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it shimmers and coats the pan.
- Add the finely chopped onion, sautéing until soft and golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic, allowing its aroma to infuse the butter for about 30 seconds.
- Pour in the chicken broth and season with salt and pepper, then bring to a rolling boil.
- Gently add the rinsed rice, stirring quickly to distribute the grains evenly. Cover the pan with a snug lid.
- Reduce the heat to the lowest setting and let the rice simmer and absorb the broth for 15-18 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let the rice rest, undisturbed, for 5-10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork, adding the remaining butter for a glossy finish.
- Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For best results, choose high-quality unsalted butter and adjust salt based on the broth’s saltiness. Avoid overmixing to prevent gummy rice.
