- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until fully combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be cautious not to overmix.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan using a spatula.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into bars.
Notes
Store cooled bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Freeze for up to 3 months for longer storage.
