Description
Juicy beef patties topped with a rich onion and mushroom gravy, perfect for a cozy meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Form Patties: Start by shaping the ground beef into 4 equal-sized patties. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Cook Patties: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Set Aside: Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.
- Sauté Onions and Mushrooms: In the same skillet, add the diced onion and sliced mushrooms. Cook until the onions are translucent and the mushrooms have browned, around 5-7 minutes.
- Make Gravy: Sprinkle flour over the onion and mushroom mixture. Stir well to combine, then slowly add in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until the gravy begins to thicken.
- Combine: Return the hamburger steaks back to the skillet, nestling them in the gravy. Let it simmer for a few more minutes to meld the flavors before serving.
Notes
Serve hot with creamy mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
