- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (60 g) powdered sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 8 ounces (227 g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture and beat until fully incorporated.
- Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until a smooth dough forms.
- If the dough is sticky, chill for 15-30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut out heart shapes.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are set. Let cool on a wire rack.
- For the ganache, heat heavy cream until simmering and pour over chopped chocolate. Stir until smooth and allow to cool slightly.
- Spread ganache between two heart cookies to assemble sandwiches. Let set before serving.
