Aromatic Hobo Dinner Foil Packets


Description

Comforting foil packets filled with seasoned ground beef, buttery potatoes, and sweet-roasted carrots, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced
  • 4 medium carrots, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Aluminum foil (four pieces, about 12 inches long each)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, diced potatoes, sliced carrots, chopped onion, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  3. Cut four large pieces of aluminum foil, about 12 inches long. Divide the mixture evenly among the foil pieces.
  4. Fold the sides of the foil over the mixture and roll up the ends to create a sealed packet.
  5. Place the foil packets on the grill or in the oven. Cook for about 30–35 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the beef is cooked through.
  6. Carefully open the packets and serve hot; let stand for 2–3 minutes before opening.

Notes

Test potatoes for doneness with a fork before serving. For better texture and flavor, add butter to cooked packets if desired.
