  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans)
  • Dark chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until smooth.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving platter.

Notes

Dust with powdered sugar before serving for added elegance. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
