Description

A classic Old-Fashioned Orange Cake with vibrant citrus flavor and tender crumb, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the fresh orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined—be careful not to overmix!
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool before serving.
