Orange Crinkle Cookies


Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the fridge for about 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and roll them into balls, then roll each ball in powdered sugar until well coated.
  8. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them as they will expand while baking.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  10. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for better texture and preventing spreading. Use fresh orange juice for best flavor.
