Oreo Cake

Description

A rich and indulgent Oreo Cake featuring soft chocolate sponge layers and a fluffy cream filling mixed with crunchy Oreo pieces.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • ½ cup heavy cream (for ganache, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans with cooking spray and parchment paper lining.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well-mixed.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. In a clean mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the crushed Oreos.
  8. Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and spread half of the cream filling on top. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining cream filling over the top.
  9. To make the ganache, bring the heavy cream to a simmer in a small saucepan, then pour it over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes, then stir until smooth. Drizzle the ganache over the cake and let it set for a few minutes before serving.
  10. Slice, serve, and enjoy this decadent delight!

Notes

For added decoration, place whole Oreo cookies on top along with the ganache drizzle.
