- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
- ½ cup heavy cream (for ganache, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans with cooking spray and parchment paper lining.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well-mixed.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- In a clean mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the crushed Oreos.
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and spread half of the cream filling on top. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining cream filling over the top.
- To make the ganache, bring the heavy cream to a simmer in a small saucepan, then pour it over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes, then stir until smooth. Drizzle the ganache over the cake and let it set for a few minutes before serving.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy this decadent delight!
Notes
For added decoration, place whole Oreo cookies on top along with the ganache drizzle.
