Description

Delicious oven-baked tacos filled with spiced meat, topped with melted cheese and fresh vegetables, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or substitute ground turkey or chicken)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tbsp homemade taco mix)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or salsa
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 10 small taco shells (flour or corn)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with foil.
  2. Warm the taco shells slightly so they’re pliable and won’t crack when filled.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil, diced onion, and sauté for 3–4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground meat to the skillet, breaking it up, and cook until browned (6–8 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
  5. Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce or salsa. Simmer for 3–5 minutes.
  6. Fill each taco shell with the meat mixture and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  7. Bake for 10–15 minutes, until cheese is melted and shells are crisped.
  8. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro. Serve immediately.

Notes

Feel free to customize toppings and spice levels to your preference. Consider using low-sodium ingredients to reduce salt content.
