Oyster Stew

Description

A warm and comforting oyster stew with creamy milk and tender oysters, perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint oysters
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and celery, and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the oysters (with their liquor), Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  4. Cook for about 2 minutes until the edges of the oysters begin to curl.
  5. Pour in the cream and milk, stirring gently to combine; heat through without allowing it to boil.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.

Notes

Be sure not to overcook the oysters; they can become tough if cooked too long. Serve with crusty bread or crackers.
