Description
Delicious, creamy mashed potatoes that elevate any meal with their comforting texture and flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds of potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
- 1/2 cup of milk (whole or 2% for creaminess)
- 1/4 cup of butter (unsalted is ideal)
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Peel and quarter the potatoes, ensuring they’re cut into even sizes for uniform cooking.
- Place the potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Carefully drain the potatoes and return them to the pot, allowing them to steam for a minute.
- Place the butter in the pot with the potatoes and start mashing with a potato masher or a ricer for ultra-smooth potatoes.
- Gradually add the milk while mashing, continuing to mix until you achieve a creamy texture. Adjust the amount of milk for your preferred creaminess.
- Add salt and pepper to taste, blending well for an even flavor.
- Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately.
Notes
For a vegan version, substitute milk with almond or oat milk and butter with vegan butter. Avoid watery mashed potatoes by ensuring they are well-drained after boiling.
