Ingredients

  • 1 cup of rice (white or brown)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and thyme; sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the rice and stir to coat in the oil and spices evenly.
  5. Pour in the water and add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
  7. Fluff with a fork and serve warm.

Notes

For fluffy rice, avoid overmixing and check for doneness by tasting a grain before turning off the heat.
