- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Cook spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Spoon the meat sauce generously over the cooked spaghetti and garnish with fresh basil or grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
