Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package shortcake biscuits or sponge cake
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries and sugar. Let sit for 30 minutes to create a delicious syrup.
  2. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. On serving plates, place a shortcake biscuit, top with some strawberries and syrup, then add a generous dollop of whipped cream.
  4. Continue layering as desired, finishing with more strawberries and whipped cream on top.
  5. Garnish with mint leaves if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

Use ripe, in-season strawberries for the best flavor. Adjust the sugar in the strawberries to taste.
