Description
Delicious Caprese skewers featuring cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 cherry tomatoes (about 1 pint)
- 12 mini fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), drained (about 8–10 ounces total)
- 12 fresh basil leaves (small to medium)
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze or 1 teaspoon balsamic reduction (optional)
- Flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 12 small cocktail skewers or toothpicks
Instructions
- Rinse cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. Pat dry. Drain the bocconcini thoroughly on paper towel to avoid excess moisture.
- On each skewer, thread one tomato, fold and add a basil leaf, then add one mozzarella ball.
- Arrange skewers on a serving platter. Drizzle each skewer lightly with extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze (if using).
- Sprinkle flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper over the skewers just before serving.
- If making ahead, assemble skewers up to 4 hours before serving and store covered in the refrigerator. Wait to drizzle oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper until 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
These skewers are ideal for summer parties and make-ahead finger foods. Use fresh mozzarella made from cow’s milk for best results.
