Description

Indulge in the delightful warmth of homemade cinnamon rolls, perfect for celebrations and cozy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for frosting)
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warmed milk and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl until well combined for the filling.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (about 18” x 12”).
  7. Evenly spread the filling mixture over the dough, leaving a small border.
  8. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  9. Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  10. Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  12. Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a bowl until smooth for the frosting.
  13. Drizzle warm rolls with frosting before serving.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the dough to keep it light and fluffy.
