- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 2 tbsp milk (for frosting)
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warmed milk and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl until well combined for the filling.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (about 18” x 12”).
- Evenly spread the filling mixture over the dough, leaving a small border.
- Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
- Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
- Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a bowl until smooth for the frosting.
- Drizzle warm rolls with frosting before serving.
